What is the Teen Leadership Academy (TLA)?
TLA is a scholarshipped, weekly after school arts education and enrichment program for local high school students (grades 9-12) in the Los Angeles area who love drama and the arts and want to become leaders within their community.
Students will attend an in-person class at 24th ST with our 24th ST Artistic Director every Wednesday 4:15-5:30pm during the school year beginning August 28.
TLA students will also attend bi-monthly field trips and master classes including seeing theatre, visiting local colleges, workshops in financial literacy and other essential leadership skills.
NEW THIS YEAR: TLA students will have the opportunity to apply for a small number of paid mentor positions working with After ‘Cool students during the school year. These paid mentors will receive a stipend at the end of each semester and must commit to attending two days of After ‘Cool per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays after school). Paid mentors will act as guides for younger students and assistants to the teaching artists. Duties include assisting with set up and clean up of the space, preparing snack, and helping younger students stay on task in class. Indicate interest in mentor positions on the registration form.
